Once Again, a Chance to Taste Washington

by on March 3, 2011

March means the month of Taste Washington, the largest single-region wine and food event in the country. The event is returning to Seattle for its 14th year on Saturday, March 26, and Sunday, March 27.

The weekend begins with a series of Saturday seminars at Bell Harbor International Conference Center. Presenters include Dave McIntyre, Wine Columnist for The Washington Post; Leslie Sbrocco, contributor to NBC’s “Today”; Sara Schneider, Wine Editor for Sunset; Bruce Schoenfeld, Wine Editor for Travel + Leisure; and Jason Smith, Master Sommelier and Wine Director at Bellagio Las Vegas.

Also presenting: Chef Michael Mina of Bourbon Steak and RN74. You’ll want to keep the latter restaurant in mind, as he’ll be opening a branch in downtown Seattle (4th and Pike) very soon.

The big event of the weekend is Sunday’s Grand Tasting at Qwest Field Event Center. More than 200 Washington State wineries will be pouring; last year, Boudreaux Cellars was a surprise find for many in attendance.

The Grand Tasting also features celebrity chef demonstrations, dessert and coffee bars, and a vineyard tasting area. Bites of food will pair nicely will all the “flights” of wine, so look a variety of offerings from the likes of Anita’s Crepes and Yellow Leaf Cupcake to El Gaucho and Canlis.

Check the Taste Washington website for more information and ticketing for all of the weekend’s events.

  1. Yes, indeed, pricey.

I’ve heard good things about the quality. We’ll have to see about the value. Or who can afford to find out the value!
