“Best of SIFF” Reruns Start June 15
It’s tough to get to everything you want to see at SIFF, and tougher to get to things you didn’t know you wanted to see, but heard great things about later. That’s why it’s nice that SIFF is presenting a “Best of SIFF” slate of films from June 15 to June 21, all shown at either SIFF Cinema Uptown or the SIFF Film Center on the Seattle Center Campus.
June 21 is a screening of Any Day Now, starring Alan Cumming, the film that won this year’s Golden Space Needle Award. Eden, a sex-trafficking movie from director Megan Griffiths, is June 20. That won its star Jamie Chung the SIFF audience award for best actress. Welcome to Doe Bay, on June 18, is probably the closest you’re going to get to the Doe Bay Fest, given how quickly tickets sold out. Five Star Existence, on the tribulations of technology, won SIFF’s Grand Jury prize for documentaries–see if you think it’s thought-provoking or judgment-dodging.
For reasons known only to SIFF, they’re also showing The Woman in the Fifth, with Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas, lots of times. All the reruns are listed here; and here is Tony’s review of over two dozen SIFF films, where you’ll see some overlap.
